Pamela Pecchio bio:
Pamela Pecchio received her MFA in photography from the Yale University School of Art in 2001, where she was awarded the Richard Dixon Welling Prize for Excellence. Her work is included in collections at the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and the Yale University Art Museum, among others, along with many private collections.

Pecchio has shown across the United States, as well as internationally in China, Spain, Italy and Holland. Her work has been featured in ArtNews, Details, Camera Arts and V magazines. She is the author of two books, eight, and artist’s book published by Nexus Press, and 509, a limited edition monograph published by Daniel 13 Press. Pecchio is represented by Daniel Cooney Fine Art in New York. She is currently Assistant Professor of Art at the University of Virginia.

Dave Wofford bio:
Dave Wofford mans the reins of Horse & Buggy Press, a design and letterpress studio he started in 1996. Dave has collaborated with a wide variety of artists and writers over the years (Allan Gurganus, John Lane, Ippy Patterson, Rob McDonald, Henryk Fantazos), both on books bearing his own H&B imprint and on books for other publishers. Many of these titles have won awards both for their content and for their design. In addition to work as a book designer, Dave is active designing exhibition catalogues and other narrative oriented printed matter projects.

509 is a portal into the familiar and familial. Detailed glimpses of a family home that hasn't changed much in several decades. Why should it? Fads pass and new appliances are often poorly made. Wait long enough and that wall paper will come back into vogue. Leave this book open on your "modern" home's coffee table and enjoy a window to the timeless. Music industry veteran and publisher Jefferon Holt of Daniel 13 Press invited photographer Pamela Pecchio into the home of his upbringing in Burlington, North Carolina two years after his Father passed away. In Pecchio's words:

"When Jefferson approached me for this project, I was thrilled by the opportunity. My work explores my deep interest in connection to place, and well lived in homes are rich with subject matter. Before I made the work, I walked through the house with Jefferson and his mother. Both shared stories about each room and its contents. When I came back and had the place to myself for a week, I had time and freedom to explore, two things I value most in my photographic life. I worked through the house room by room. I’d begin by sitting in a room and looking all around, carefully taking in each detail, connecting some to the stories I had been told and inventing other stories of my own. Then I’d begin photographing. One photograph led naturally to the next and I stopped only when I felt I had exhausted all possibilities. Working with the large format camera is a production. It takes up more space than I do, so its presence is not insignificant. It was important to use, as it has the ability to visually control space like no other tool. I am very strict when it comes to the structure of my photographs, and seek to create tension by taking that strictly controlled frame and filling it with something less controlled, like sentiment or accident."

For printing, Holt approached Dave Wofford of Horse & Buggy Press. Wofford here uses Indigo full color printing on 100lb New Leaf Reincarnation Matte paper, a 100% recycled text sheet that contains 50% post-consumer content. For binding, full cloth, flat back case-bound with silver foil stamp on the front cover. All text is set in Bembo and the endsheets are sapphire blue Bugra. In addition the book features several full page bleeds.

All 100 copies are slipcased and signed by Pamela Pecchio, Dave Wofford and Jefferson Holt and numbered by Pecchio in pencil.

Books accompanied by prints come in an 8x10" print box. The prints are approximately a 5x6.25" image on 7.5x9 in a folio. There are 10 of each print.
