Born in Ada, Oklahoma. Grew up in Lake Placid, NY. Graduated from Rutgers U with degree in Psychology in 1963. Attended graduate school in Psychology. Assistant Professor in the Art Department at Livingston College, Rutgers U. from 1971 to 1978. Was the founding Professor of the Photography and multi-media program in the Art Department. Published first book "The Russians" in 1979. That book was also published in Germany, France, Holland and Italy. Published 3 book on The Adirondacks with Rizzoli and one book on the Galapagos Islands. Given Honorary Doctors of Arts degrees by Saint Lawrence University and SUNY.
