I Imagined It Empty — Ruth Lauer Manenti. Published by RM/PHREE/Ediciones Posibles.
Ruth’s book is a faded memory. The images on the pages quietly move between familiar still lifes, interior shots of a home, images of a woman or of a place. You can almost hear a hum while paging through it. The whole production of the book is beautiful, with special treatment given to the text written by the artist in the back of the book (the text is tipped-in, and under it, you see an image). Ruth gently succeeds in processing something all of us will go through and shows me another way of seeing.
