Tim Carpenter's Favorite Books of 2024

Mal de Mer — Claudio Majorana.   Published by CESURA.

You know how sometimes photobooks make you fall in love with photography all over again? This book does that for me. I’ve long been a fan of Majorana’s pictures, and I’m glad to have this beautifully produced volume to consider and return to.

Tim Carpenter is a photographer, writer, and educator who works in Brooklyn and central Illinois. He is the author of several photobooks, including Local objects, Christmas Day, Bucks Pond Road, and Little, as well as the book-length essay To photograph is to learn how to die.
