I Imagined It Empty — Ruth Lauer Manenti.   Published by RM/PHREE/Ediciones Posibles.

Ruth Lauer Manenti’s I Imagined it Empty contains in it a risk. The book defines a still time defined by grief from the loss of her mother. The images remind one of charcoal drawings, delicate and spare enough to bring to mind Giorgio Morandi, illumining the space. The risk is in the grace of the images. Grace can verge on sentimentality. Adeptly evading this pitfall, I Imagined it Empty is firmly placed in eloquence.
