Tengallon Sunflower — Aspen Mays. Published by Dais Books.
Mays iterates a series of photograms based on bandana patterns utilizing materials from cut paper and fabric to pins and pinholes that move from the source of their inspiration (her grandmother and Georgia O’Keeffe) into the space of a new intricate geometry. The book’s carefully connected materials—the two front covers that open like unfolded fabric, the indigo thread binding each signature, and the book cloth tape adhering the covers together—thoughtfully dialog with the images within.
