I’m So Happy You Are Here — Japanese Women Photographers from the 1950s to Now. Published by Aperture.
One of the reasons I chose a career as a photo book consultant was the early influence of two pivotal references: The Book of 101 Books by Andrew Ross (PPP Editions, 2002) and The Photobook: A History, Volume I by Martin Parr and Gerry Badger (Phaidon, 2005). These books affirmed my belief that the book format is the ideal medium for presenting photography. I am also encouraged to see that many emerging photo book consultants and collectors recognize Dr. Vermare and Martin’s book on female Japanese photographers as an invaluable resource. Their work has highlighted a lesser-explored theme, opening a new chapter in photo book history.
