A Murmur in the Trees — Suzanne Révy. Published by Workshop Arts.
Many artists who are drawn to the landscape return to a particular place that ‘speaks’ to them. For photographer and writer Suzanne Révy, the pastoral nature in historic Concord, Massachusetts, where the transcendental writers of the 19th century once lived, is such a place—one of solitude and contemplation. Suzanne returns again and again to experience the beauty through her lens, and we have the great fortune of being amidst the subtle seasonal changes in nature with her.
Révy’s body of work is brought to the book form with wise design and production materials that afford the reader a participatory experience: as we unfold its pages, the view expands to our left and to our right, allowing us to stand amidst and ultimately be embraced by nature. Quotes from the writings of Henry David Thoreau appear throughout the book, adding to our broader understanding of this special place. Each photograph made by Suzanne in this place reveals scenes that are breathtakingly beautiful, an immense pleasure to behold in this wonderful book.
