This book truly represents a revisionist approach to photographic history, breaking down social, political, and institutional hierarchies. It is densely packed with interesting projects and ideas. Simply put, I want this to be used in photographic classrooms around the world to help set new precedents for how we use the medium.
Brian Arnold is a photographer, writer, and translator based in Ithaca, NY. His work is included in museums and archives around the world, including the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, the George Eastman Museum, the National Gallery of Australia, and the Indonesian Visual Arts Archive. Brian has authored three books on photography and is currently developing his fourth, Something About YU: Essays on Photography in Serbia and Yugoslavia.
