It may not have everything you'd want to know about photo culture on the magazine page in Japan, but this scholarly and beautifully illustrated account has more than enough for most. Magazines often carry the forward-thinking and risk-taking work images and words, but they are also ephemeral. Study them closely and it is like watching a visual culture unfold before you. We owe a debt of gratitude to all those involved in this generous opus.
