I'm drawn to this book for the feelings it stirs in me. Beauty, sensuality, tenderness, fragility. It rekindles my love of photography at a time when I'm focused on its inadequacies and the baggage it carries. It also adds another layer to the breadth of Mimi’s decades-long photo practice in California.
Carolyn Drake is an artist and photographer based in Vallejo, California. Her work has been supported by a Guggenheim fellowship, Lightwork, and the Henri Cartier Bresson Foundation, among other awards. She has authored five photo books, is a member of Magnum Photos, and is represented by Yancey Richardson Gallery.
