When Eugene Richards new book — In This Brief Life — arrived, each page stopped me, I moved front to back then back to front with long pauses. Richards pulled these images from his contact sheets because he “had overlooked over the years, had dismissed, had found difficult to look at, had forgotten.“ The retrieved photographs comprise 54 years of projects from Arkansas to Ethiopia. They require study from edge to edge and I won’t forget them.
Anne Tucker served as founding curator of Museum of Fine Arts Houston photography department from 1976 to 2015. She curated over 40 exhibitions, most with catalogs and built a collection of over 30,000 photographs which were made on all seven continents.
