Odette England’s Favorite Book from 2021

Only the Plants Will Ever Know by Magdalena Wysocka & Claudio Pogo.   Published by Outer Space Press.

I chose this book because it has everything in just the right quantities (also things I’m visually attracted to): intrigue, rarity, sex, death, film negatives, plants, unpredictability, parallel stories, voyeurism, chance, and found materials. It’s heady, cerebral, and gorgeous. I admire good collaborative book projects, emphasis on good. Collaboration requires a special kind of vulnerability. This book is testament to two artists who wear their intelligence and compassion lightly but generously.
