parr Hot Spots: Martin Parr and the American South takes a stroll through the Southern United States with renowned Magnum photographer Martin Parr. Following Parr through city streets and social events, this film highlights his unique approach to dissecting society in a humorous tone, while also expressing serious and eye-opening cultural habits. Containing interviews with John Gossage, Susan Meiselas and other prolific professionals in the field, Hot Spots is an entertaining as well as insightful journey into the world of Martin Parr. Copies of this DVD are now in stock and are available for order.

leiter Published by Kehrer Verlag, Saul Leiter's Retrospective takes aim at the artist's work in advancing early color photography. The painter turned photographer began his career wandering the streets of New York City, creating beautiful imagery that was closely tied to the Abstract Expressionists of his time. Accompanying Leiter's photographs are reproductions of his paintings and sketchbooks, as well as imagery representing his career as a fashion photographer for Esquire and Harper's Bazaar. Copies are in stock and are available for order.

Blackout by Dan Holdsworth takes the viewer through a haunting interpretation of the Icelandic landscape. The photographer's images are highly stylized, creating boding overtones that produce a scene one might find in a science fiction movie. Holdsworth's use of black skies forces the viewer to have the feeling of looking off into space and causes a sensation of deep isolation. The mesmerizing photographs are published in striking detail and design. Copies are now in stock and are available for order.

Published by Steidl, Photography Calling! highlights some of the world's leading fine art and documentary photographers. This comprehensive collection and exhibition catalogue features the work of Lewis Baltz, Martin Parr, William Eggleston, Diane Arbus and many more. Copies are now in stock and are available for order.

“The newest offer from (Maxwell) Anderson is Work In Progress, a photographic sketchbook created for the 2012 C/O Berlin Book Days event, a showcase and discussion on visual dialogues with an emphasis on self-publishing. Anderson was kind enough to share a bit about the making of the Work In Progress and his intentions behind it, as well as a video documenting the actual book being produced by Anderson himself, along with some butt shaking.” — from the post on photo-eye Blog. Copies are arriving soon and are available for preorder.

581c from Thobias Fäldt is an unusual and at times surreal collection of images describing a site Fäldt calls 581c. Mostly taken at night, the images provide little context to ground the viewer in a specific place, instead, they all relate to a location of Fäldt's imagination, a place familiar yet that also seems to be outside ordinary life. The book is contained in a smart box printed with a repeating geometric pattern; a circle cut from one side reveals the cover image. The book itself is beguiling in both sense of the word — the geometric stamps overlap to create 581c on the spine and edges of the pages and it is, in many ways, a book without beginning or end.” — from Sarah Bradley's post on photo-eye Blog. Also check out Sarah Bradley's interview with Klara Källström and Thobias Fäldt here. Copies are arriving soon and are available for preorder.

Ikuo Salley's Whiskey Drinking Troubadour showcases the photographer's thoughtful blend of conceptual art and street photography. Setting out to denounce social media and a false sense of communication via the Internet, Salley took to the streets of Hollywood to capture the essence of 'real communication,' photographing prostitutes addicts and the homeless. Here we see grainy black-and-white images that seek to expose life's hardships while also giving an honest and engaging take on the human condition.

Published by the Peabody Essex Museum, Ansel Adams: At the Water's Edge explores the prolific landscape photographer's fascination with water. From famous imagery of Old Faithful to lesser-known photographs, At the Water's Edge helps expand the artist's well-known and extensive catalogue. Here the viewer is given examples of Adams' deep fascination with water and how he chooses to represent it through his highly stylized printing process.

Old New World by Mary Macpherson contains an engaging series of urban landscapes that attempt to examine the cultural shift from traditional New Zealand to a modern New Zealand. By showcasing the country's new prosperity and development in a contemporary and at times clever fashion, Macpherson has given the viewer a direct insight into a society's sudden transition.
