NEW ARRIVALS +  06.25.10 Vol 7.26

Zimmermann Just arrived, copies of Juergen Teller's new Zimmermann, recently published by Steidl. Zimmermann presents photographs of Raquel Zimmerman interacting with family in Southern Germany. Though it draws obvious comparison to Teller's 2002 monograph More, which profiled supermodel Stephanie Seymour at home in Connecticut, Zimmermann plays on a more surreal aesthetic, weaving a disturbing fantasy through the stark flash of Teller's signature overexposures. Though Teller's groundbreaking, raw approach to fashion photography in the 1990s — alongside contemporaries Terry Richardson and Wolfgang Tillmans — served to ultimately recast the defacto aesthetics of the industry, the plethora of photographers now working in a similar style has not served to diminish the effectiveness of Teller's own work — if anything, it has only proven how uniquely vicious Teller's work can be. Copies now in stock.

The Pleasures of Good Photographs Arriving soon from Aperture in New York, The Pleasures of Good Photographs, a new collection of essays from Gerry Badger, seminal critic and champion of the photobook-as-medium. The prolific author of more than a dozen books including both volumes of the canonical The Photobook: A History, Badger's new writings focus on specific artists, images and themes as a means of exploring the wider implications of photographic experience, while addressing specifics such as the photobook and changing role of PhotoShop in arts practice. Presenting predominantly new texts alongside select classics, The Pleasures of Good Photographs is Badger's intellectual curiosity and aesthetic acuity at their best, presented with extraordinary clarity and subtle wit. Copies arriving soon, now available for preorder.

Please note that adding a book to your shopping cart does not reserve a copy; orders must be finalized to appear in our system.
