Arriving soon, Terry Richardson's Bright Shiny Morning:
Wives, Wheels, Weapons, released by JMc & GHB Editions. Companion to the 2008 James Frey novel Bright Shiny Morning, Richardson's artist book reprints several chapters from Frey's complex novel alongside Richardson's responsive photo-essays. Frey, best known as the author publicly slammed for fictionalizing sections of his bestselling memoir A Million Little Pieces, is a compelling companion for Richardson, whose notoriously provocative images have always seemed to dance lithely in the space between truth and fiction. Copies arriving soon, now taking preorders.
Coming soon, French photographer Jean-Luc Mylayne's newest monograph which, just like his seminal 2007 publication, is simply titled Jean-Luc Mylayne. Since the mid 1970s, Mylayne has maintained one of the most unique and disciplined photographic practices in the medium. Beginning with a long period of observation, consideration and planning, Mylayne composes his image and waits patiently for a single bird. Eventually the shutter is released, a sublime moment — arguably one of the most considered moments in contemporary photography — is captured and the lone image kept. The works, totalling less than 400 over the last 30 years, carry the weight of their consideration well — each a powerful, subtle meditation. Published by Harry N. Abrams, Jean-Luc Mylayne presents 68 previously unpublished photographs, taken between 1992 and 2008.
