Just arrived, copies of True by Thomas Joshua Cooper, published by Haunch of Venison in London. True presents new work from Cooper's now twenty-year ongoing project "The World's Edge," an investigation into the geographic extremes of land masses on the Atlantic Ocean. After researching and pinpointing a particular point on the map, Cooper travels to his destination and makes just one photograph — potent meditations on the divisions of boundary, limits of space and the precise moment when one part of the world becomes another. Copies now in stock.
Arriving soon, The Regulars by Sarah Stolfa, published by Artisan and picked as one of the Best Books of 2009 by Douglas Stockdale. While working as a bartender at McGlinchey's in Philadelphia, Stolfa photographed an array of the downtown bar's regular clientele. The images themselves are stunning — living portraits with the gushing shadows and piercing lights of a Rembrandt. Yet, what is truly engaging about The Regulars is how it discusses the makeup of the contemporary urban environment through one of the oldest social establishments: the neighborhood bar. Copies arriving soon.
