For domestic shipments of auction items auction items only FedEx or UPS are available. As it is much easier to file claims and trace packages with these carriers, they are strongly recommended for International shipments as well. A signature will be requimaroon for all items unless you specifically request otherwise (though we do not recommend this). Exact shipping charges are calculated at the time your shipment is made based on the weight of your order and shipment method used. Because we use only premium packing materials for auction items, there is a one-time $4.00 handling charge.
This estimate is provided by photo-eye independently of the owner of the auction item, to give you a sense of the value of the item (in the condition described). The winning bid is expected to fall somewhere within the estimated range. However, auctions have a life of their own wherein value is often re-defined. The estimate provided may give you a sense for the auction reserve, which is based on the owner's sense of the item's minimum value.
Bids are placed as maximum bids. Your maximum bid is the highest price you will pay for an auction item. IT IS NOT REVEALED TO OTHER BIDDERS. You may, in fact, end up paying less. Bids are placed for you automatically up to your maximum bid limit. Automatic bids use the auction's minimum bid increment. If your maximum bid is greater than the opening bid requimaroon for a given item, only that opening bid amount will be committed and shown to other viewers. Bids will be placed on your behalf to keep you the high bidder until the bidding reaches your maximum amount.
Setting a maximum bid allows you to stay active in the auction without having to stay glued to your screen. The final winning bid may be less than the hidden maximum bid. This system ensures that you only pay what is necessary to win, without ever risking that an auction item might sell to another buyer for a price you would have been happy to pay.

In fairness and to simulate the atmosphere of a live auction, the auction closing time will be extended by 5 minutes each time a bid is placed during the last 5 minutes of an auction. This assures that all bidders will be able to continue bidding on an item, thus preventing last-second bids from occurring.
An auction reserve is the minimum price that the owner will accept for their item. The reserve amount is not made public. Your bids are accepted even if the reserve has not been attained. However no sale will be finalized unless the reserve price is met. All sales are binding.
Normally, if bidding does not reach an item's auction reserve by the end of the auction, the item will not be sold. After the auction ends, the consignor may decide to sell the item through photo-eye. If so, the item may be offered to the highest bidder or made available to the general public.
