NEW ARRIVALS +  11.10.12 Vol 9.45

parr Chad States' ongoing series Trade is a collection of photographs acquired through smart phone cruising applications. For these cruising sites that provide an intimate connection between men looking for physical romance and contact, each participant provides a provocative photograph of themselves. Presented in an elegant envelope are 25 individual images, each edition limited to 40 copies. The Trade series will be released seasonally with a new set of photographs. The summer edition focuses on photographs of men in bathtubs and swimming pools. Signed copies are in stock and available for order.

leiter 127 by Yichi Hibi is a modest limited edition exhibition catalogue containing 20 stunning portraits. The square-format black-and-white images are often haunting, suggesting an underlying uneasiness that becomes illusive to pinpoint. This collection offers some of Hibi's most thoughtful portraits and begs the viewer to seek out more of the photographer's emotionally driven work. Copies are now in stock and are available for order.

The first thing one notices about Mikhael Subotzky's Retinal Shift is its size. At 490 pages, two inches thick, and weighing just over 5 pounds, Retinal Shift is among more mammoth photobooks I've encountered. To get a sense of the dimensions think of Magnum Degrees or Magnum Landscapes. Or just think of the word Magnum, which identifies Subotzky as well as his tome. Publisher Steidl has not held much back here. — from Blake Andrews' review of Retinal Shift on photo-eye Blog.

The Bitter Years: Edward Steichen and the Farm Security Administration is a collection of photographs from the exhibition under the same name on display at MoMA in 1962. The photographs were made by photographers working for the U.S. Farm Security Administration from 1935-41. Capturing iconic images from the Dust Bowl migration and economic collapse across the United States, these photographs tell an important story in a time of uncertainty for many in America. This is the first catalogue constructed for this exhibition and sheds new light on Steichen as curator and historian. Copies are now in stock and are available for order.

We are always on a quest to touch the aesthetic nerve centers of our audience here at photo-eye Auctions. Judging from recent response (HERE & HERE & HERE), the books of Antoine D'Agata seem to have done just that. So, this week, he's back with Insomnia from 2003.

Salvador Costa created one of the 'primary documents' of the UK Punk explosion circa '76-'77 with the (Spanish) publication of Punk. An essential of rock photography!! Also, the incredibly rare title, Berlin Notat (Berlin Note) by the incomparable Danish photographer Krass Clement The Drum); signed books by O. Winston Link; Eggleston & MUCH MORE!! Check out Eric's Weekly below! Thanks as always for looking!! EM

Please note that adding a book to your shopping cart does not reserve a copy; orders must be finalized to appear in our system. However, due to the extremely limited number of some books, we cannot guarantee a copy for every finalized order. New Arrivals and Back-in-Stock items were in stock at the time that this newsletter was sent. Orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis until sold-out.
