NEW ARRIVALS +  10.23.10 Vol 7.43

Who Will Stay Just arrived at our warehouse From Here to There: Alec Soth's America published by the Walker Art Center. Starting with his explosive debut publication Sleeping by the Mississippi, Minnesota based photographer Alec Soth has consistently proven to be among the most insightful and influential photographers of his generation. As such, it is a great pleasure to see From Here to There present — for the first time — a broad spectrum of the artist's work. With more than 100 photographs from the past 15 years, this beautifully produced exhibition catalog offers not only a ripe opportunity for new viewers, but a deeper insight for even the most voracious of his accolades. True to form, the images are universally beautiful, insightful and intimate. From Here to There is in stock now, signed copies arrive in 2-3 weeks and are now available for preorder.

Atlanta Arriving soon, signed copies of Atlanta by Michael Schmelling published by Chronicle Books in San Francisco. If you know anything about hip hop then you know that few cities can boast a reputation like Atlanta, Georgia, home to innumerable game-changers like OutKast, Ludacris, Lil Jon and Young Jeezy — even Danger Mouse and Prefuse 73. Enter photographer Michael Schmelling, the exceptional eye behind last year's much lauded The Plan. Schmelling spent several months traversing the eclectic and world renown Atlanta Hip Hop scene, documenting its accolades, landmarks, superstars and fans. The photographs in Atlanta are exquisite, boasting all the narrative refinement we've come to expect from Schmelling which, paired with essays by music writer Kelefa Sanneh plus interviews with key figures like Gucci Mane and Andre 3000, make Atlanta an appropriately groundbreaking publication. Oh yeah, it also includes a digital download mixtape of unreleased songs. Available as both a trade, and ludicrously affordable Limited Edition with C-Print and unique handwritten list of Atlanta street names. Copies arriving soon, now available for preorder.

Last night, Renate Aller dropped off a copy of her limited edition of Oceanscapes. Aller is a mixed media artist who has created installation art in the past and this limited edition is no deviation from this genre of art. The limited edition of Oceanscapes contains one of her prints mounted behind one inch thick acrylic giving the illusion of liquidity to the ocean horizon photograph — its translucent illumination is similar to that obtained by a light box. The mounted piece is signed and numbered by Aller in an edition of 25 on the verso with a jeweler's engraving tool and it is housed with a signed and numbered trade edition book in the custom-made acrylic box. The box and/or print can be displayed upright or flat and is a work of art in and of itself. Though several of these have already sold, it is still priced in the first tier of $1800. The next tier is $2600, so don't wait to make a purchase of this stunning piece. Signed copies of the trade edition of Oceanscapes are also available.

Please note that adding a book to your shopping cart does not reserve a copy; orders must be finalized to appear in our system. However, due to the extremely limited number of some books, we cannot guarantee a copy for every finalized order. New Arrivals and Back-in-Stock items were in stock at the time that this newsletter was sent. Orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis until sold-out. We reserve the right to limit quantities.
