NEW ARRIVALS +  08.06.10 Vol 7.32

Amami Just arrived at our warehouse, copies of Dutch photographer Cuny Janssen's new monograph, Amami, published by Snoeck. Janssen has become well known for her work blending exquisite portraits of children with contemplative views of the broader landscapes they inhabit. Amami presents more than 100 photographs taken on Amami-Oshima, a semi-tropical island in the Ryukyu Archipelago, south of the Japanese mainland. The blend of works here is extremely refined, the gentle landscapes and telling portraits sequenced together to create a stunning, hopeful outlook. Published in an edition of just 1000 copies, this beautiful monograph is now in stock.

Pause, to Begin Also just arrived at our warehouse, copies of Pause, To Begin a thoughtful new survey of emerging photographers by Ethan Jones and David Wright. In April, 2008, the Pause, to Begin jurors selected 15 photographers, and then began more than 10,000 miles of travel to meet and interview each artist. Published in an edition of just 500 copies as companion to an exhibition, Pause, To Begin presents the work of Colin Blakely, Timothy Briner, Alejandro Cartagena, Hin Chua, Matthew Eich, Matthew Gamber, Shawn Gust, Shannon Johnstone, Erika Larsen, John Mann, Thomas Prior, Shawn Records, Tealia Ellis-Ritter, Brea Souders and Sonja Thomsen. With accompanying texts by founders Ethan Jones and David Wright; advisors John Paul Caponigro and Joyce Tenneson; juror Cig Harvey; and editorial director Susan Morelock. Copies now in stock.

Please note the exceptional limited edition of Lee Friedlander's America By Car has seen a publisher mandated price increase to $395, though we have a limited quantity still available for $350, they will not last long. Additionally, we are extremely pleased to announce that signed copies of John Gossage's masterful The Thirty-Two Inch Ruler / Map Of Babylon will be arriving at our warehouse in 2 - 3 weeks, and is now available for preorder.

Please note that adding a book to your shopping cart does not reserve a copy; orders must be finalized to appear in our system. However, due to the extremely limited number of some books, we cannot guarantee a copy for every finalized order. New Arrivals and Back-in-Stock items were in stock at the time that this newsletter was sent. Orders will be filled on a first come, first served basis until sold-out. We reserve the right to limit quantities.
