Order On This Earth, A Shadow Falls
Arriving soon, Dalen from Gerry Johansson, the Swedish photographer behind the stunning Amerika (Byggforlaget, 1998). Over the course of a year, Johansson photographed the "location he had dreams of shooting as a young teenager." This ambiguity is furthered by the book's title Dalen, which translates to simply: The Valley. Johansson's quiet and studied black and white images are stunning, and as well sequenced and edited as his reputation implies. Also available as a limited edition with print, copies are now available for preorder.
Also arriving soon, Color F by acclaimed Norwegian photographer and bookmaker Morten Andersen. Published by Shadowlab, Color F is Andersen's 10th book since his debut with the seminal Fast City in 1999. Color F presents a new body of color photographs, and is a follow up to the out-of-print 2005 publication Oslo F, and likewise represents an extremely vivid, highly narrative sort of ode to the city by one of her native sons. Copies of this stunning new publication are now available for preorder.
We also currently have a few new arrival books on sale for a limited time. Paul Strand: Essays on his Life and Work offers an in-depth view of the photographer’s life from his earliest beginnings to the last 25 years of his prolific career. The Day to Day Life of Albert Hastings is personal glimpse into the life of 85-year old Bert Hastings. KayLynn Deveney’s photographs incorporated with Hastings’ drawings and poems are a beautiful portrayal of one man’s existence. Photographer Jem Southam's monograph Landscape Stories offers and engaging glimpse into the southwest region of England, a land worked and reworked by centuries of human involvement. Also of note, Christopher Rauschenberg’s Paris Changing, a rephotographic survey of Eugene Atget’s iconic images of Paris a century before. The images are taken in the same locations as Atget's photographs and offer a print quality similar to aesthetic Atget achieved. Copies of these sale items now in stock.
